Tarabu Betserei Kirkland-- Acknowledging History for a Brighter Future

June 19th or Juneteenth was declared a federal holiday by President Biden in 2021. It's the day in which news of the emancipation proclamation finally reached those who had been enslaved in the state of Texas. It's a reminder that knowledge is power and it underscores the need for us to acknowledge our history (all of it--including the unbecoming racist roots of it) so that we can work toward a better, more inclusive future that truly offers justice for all.
